AWS US-EAST-1 Region outage downed many websites, now resolved

There was a recent outage of Amazon’s cloud service, AWS, which caused some websites to go dark.

According to Amazon, the root cause of the issue was tied to a function called AWS Lambda, which lets customers run code for different types of applications.

The company said on its website that the issue has been resolved and AWS is operating normally.

According to a statement released by AWS, the loss in connectivity was a result of power failure and the issue was resolved in 20 minutes.

However, some of its enterprise customers didn’t agree with the company’s estimate of 20 minutes and had quoted larger time periods extending up to three hours.

The outage caused a raft of backlogs at the e-commerce giant’s warehouses and took down popular websites and apps.

Some of the affected websites and apps include Disney Plus, Venmo, DoorDash, Spotify, Slack, and Robinhood.

The outage also impacted Amazon’s delivery operations and third-party sellers, as well as colleges that rely on software to host content.
