Is Open RAN Alliance struggling to fulfill it's promise?

Open RAN is basically separating the RAN component into RU, DU and CU. Each component may be  provided by different vendor and each component will talk to each other via open interface.

Still there are incompatibility issues between different component that needs to be fixed.

It has been more than four years after formation of Open RAN alliance group unable to fix and standardized this issue.

There are still such solution to come up where X vendor RU will plug into Y vendor system and it will start working. Operators are facing challenges for doing this in trial phase. It's taking too much time for implementing in a small part of production network.

Deutsche Telekom has an "O-RAN Town" in Neubrandenburg. France's Orange is doing the same in Lannion with its Pikeo project.

Operator facing integration challenges between different vendor RU and CU.  There are too much integration effort required between the vendor as the standard is too much open.

you disaggregate the base station then someone has to reaggregate it. And there is a cost with reaggregation because it is not plug and play.

Due to all these challenges single vendor deployment is on rise. Radio component provided by single vendor providing guaranteed compatibility.
